@pod2g has created a terrific gift for iOS fans — an untethered 5.0.1 jailbreak for non-A5 devices!

Many of you have already been following @pod2g’s blog where he’s been keeping everyone up to date on his progress. And so you know that he recently decided to push the button on a release for all devices except the new iPhone4S and iPad2. @pod2g’s untether involves two separate exploits and a few other “tricks” — and since he’s taken the @comex approach of doing nearly everything himself, you know his plate has been full these past few months!

A few days ago, @pod2g gave the untether to both the iPhone devteam and the chronic devteam. We’ve put it into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, and the chronic devteam put it into a Cydia package (the same set of exploits is in all three).

Here are the basic steps for how to get it:

The untether is for iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone3GS, iPhone4, iPhone4-CDMA, iPad1, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G

If you have one of those devices and are not on 5.0.1 yet, update now! The SHSH window is still open for 5.0.1 If you unlock via ultrasn0w or gevey, make sure you only get to 5.0.1 via a custom IPSW! See the guides at places like iClarified.com if you don’t know how. Once you’re at 5.0.1, use the latest redsn0w 0.9.10 to both jailbreak and untether.

If you’re already at 5.0.1 with a tethered jailbreak, you have two choices: either run redsn0w 0.9.10 over your current jailbreak (deselect “Install Cydia” if you do that), or install the Cydia package prepared by the chronic devteam. The patches are the same regardless of which you choose.

Some of you are using a hybrid 5.0/5.0.1 configuration. If so, do not attempt to install this untether over that setup! You will most likely get into a reboot cycle. Do a sync and fresh restore to 5.0.1 then install the jailbreak + untether.

As mentioned earlier, @pod2g has spent months working on all the exploits and tricks in this untether, and many of you may be wondering how you can send donations. Although the iPhone devteam itself doesn’t take donations, we thought it was appropriate to provide a link at the end of the redsn0w run for you to more easily donate directly to @pod2g if you wish (alternatively, you can go right here). There’s a link in the Cydia package for donating to the chronic devteam for the Cydia version of @pod2g’s untether.

@pod2g is now looking for a way to extend this to A5 devices. Because those devices cannot use geohot’s limera1n exploit to inject the untether, they require exploits above and beyond those used for this release. Keep following pod2g on twitter or his blog for any progress reports!

Here are the redsn0w download links. These links are temporary, do not permalink them yet!

This may be not what you waiting for, this is not Untethered Jailbreak yet, but iPhone dev-team has added some very useful features on this brand new RedSn0w:

The iPhone Dev-Team has updated RedSn0w for iOS 5.0.1 and added some new useful features.

What’s New in RedSn0w 0.9.9b9:

● native support for 5.0.1 (no need to point redsn0w at 5.0 IPSW or use command-line args). Support automatically extends to all of redsn0w’s various functions: “Jailbreak”, “Just boot”, “Fetch blobs”, “Stitch blobs”, “Recovery Fix”

● iBooks fixed in 5.0 and 5.0.1. This is a targeted fix that doesn’t remove entire sandbox mechanism. 5.x users already using redsn0w “Just Boot” can just use the new version without redoing entire jailbreak again

● 3GS old-bootrom owners can now create custom IPSWs without blobs

● ultrasn0w compatability update (i.e. same baseband requirements) for 5.0.1 will be available on Cydia Monday

● support for newer 8GB iPhone4 (which until now had problems with “Fetch blobs”). Thanks to @JKjeepnJeff for loaning us one of these newer i4 units for testing!

● allows Windows users (not just OS X users) to use the “Custom” button to create IPSWs without baseband updates

● accommodates APTickets in 5.x (until next Apple countermove). APTickets are crypto-verified before submitting to Cydia, just like the main blobs. Cydia server support for sending back the APTickets is upcoming. For now, use stitched IPSWs for 5.x. Due to APTickets, stitched 5.x IPSWs now require user to start in “Pwned DFU” mode

● Support added for stitching 4.x blobs to iPad2-GSM IPSWs. Similar to @notcom’s TinyCFW but doesn’t require lots of RAM or a TSS-assisted restore. Won’t work for iPad2 5.x blobs (or iPhone4S at all) until a bootrom-level exploit is out

● top line now shows whether (and where) a redsn0w update is available, or if the version being run is the latest. Uses DNS TXT record to alleviate any concerns about snooping

● no 5.1 beta support at this time (major apps like Cydia are not yet compatible)

● @pod2g has been doing a great job porting his 5.x untether…check his blog for updates!

● Owners of newer 3GS iPhones must not flash the iPad baseband. The iPad baseband will not work on 3GS iPhones built later than 2011 week 35.

The Dev-Team has already upgraded its Redsn0w 0.9.8b5 to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 5.

As for the previous iOS 5, the jailbreak is possible but it’s tethered, meaning that you have to plugin your iOS device to the computer and boot it in tethered mode using Redn0w.

Please note that you’ll not be able to unlock your iPhone using this method. An unlock for iOS 5 is still not possible.

This jailbreak does not work for iPad 2. If you have an iPad 2 jailbroken with JailbreakMe 3.0, stick to it because an untethered jailbreak for iPad 2 will not be available for a while.

This jailbreak will work on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (third and fourth generation) and iPad 1.

To legally download iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 Beta 5, you need an Apple developer account which is available to anyone willing to pay $99/year.

If you need a tutorial for the jailbreak, it’s found here.

Apple has unexpectedly pushed out an incremental update for iOS 4.3.x, and it is dubbed as iOS 4.3.5. This minor release is no more than a security update, aiming to patch issues with certificate verification.

The good news is that we have tested it and can confirm that the current version of Redsn0w can jailbreak the just released iOS 4.3.5 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, and iPod touch 4G/3G. But it will be limited to tethered boot, which means you will have to reconnect your device to your computer every time you reboot your iOS device. iPad 2 is obviously not supported. This has also been confirmed by MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team:

@zaone @m1ckey29 ah ok thanks for checking! So those who really do want tethered 4.3.5 can use redsn0w pointed at 4.3.4 (except iPad2)

How to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 (Tethered)

Step 1: Download iOS 4.3.5 and iOS 4.3.4 (required by this version of Redsn0w) firmware file for your device from the links given at the end.

Step 2: Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b4 for Windows or Mac. Also make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes, which is version 10.4.

Step 3: Now start Redsn0w, browse for the iOS 4.3.4 firmware file (NOT the 4.3.5) that you downloaded in Step 1 and point it towards Redsn0w. Refer to the screenshots below:

Step 4: Once Redsn0w is done recognizing the firmware file, click Next and there you’ll be taken to a new window. Simply check the “Install Cydia” box as shown below and leave other options as it is for now. Once done, click Next.

Step 5: On this screen, Redsn0w will instruct you to power down your device and plug it in to your computer. Follow the onscreen instructions and then click Next to continue.

Step 6: On this screen you will have to put your device in DFU mode with a combination of the Power button and the Home button for a certain amount of time, simply follow the onscreen instructions on how to do so. The combination is usually like this:

Hold down Power button for 5 seconds.

Now without releasing the Power button, hold down the Home button simultaneously with the Power button for 10 seconds.

Let go of the Power button but keep on holding the Home button for another 15 seconds.

If you performed the above mentioned steps correctly, then your device should be in DFU mode.

Step 7: Redsn0w will now jailbreak your device, don’t do anything weird at this point, just let Redsn0w finish. We would recommend that you don’t do anything with your PC or Mac at all during the process. Sitting idle and waiting for the process to end on its own is much advised.

Since this is a tethered jailbreak, therefore whenever your iOS device loses power, it will go into the dreaded Apple logo boot screen loop. To get out of that, simply start from Step 3 again and in Step 4, uncheck “Install Cydia” and instead check “Just boot tethered right now” option and hit “Next” with your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch connected to your PC or Mac. And yes, you will have to do this every time when your device reboots or loses power.

That’s it! You should now have a jailbroken iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 4.3.5.

The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.8b4 for developers to jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 4. Remember this is a tethered jailbreak.

In conjunction with iOS5 beta4 being released to iOS developers, redsn0w 0.9.8b4 is now available for jailbreak app developers. Remember, it’s a tethered jailbreak right now so you’ll need to use redsn0w to boot into a jailbroken state at each power cycle.

NOTE: It appears that by design, the OTA update that became available starting with iOS 5 beta4 will *not* be automatically applied to jailbroken devices. That’s a relief to those who don’t want to lose their jailbreak via OTA pushes. If you’re jailbroken, you’ll need to use the standard iTunes method to get to iOS 5 beta4.

You can download the new version of RedSn0w from here:

JailbreakMe 3.0 has received an “essential upgrade” via Cydia today, allegedly fixing previous issues that caused Apple’s Camera Connection Kit accessory, BiteSMS, and sometimes Cydia (disappearing problem) to stop working altogether. Every iOS user who has jailbroken their device with JailbreakMe 3.0 is encouraged to apply this update via Cydia as soon as possible.

In a tweet, Jay Freeman, also known as @saurik on Twitter, made it official:

We haven’t tested whether Apple’s Camera Connector Kit accessory is working with this update yet. So if you have tried it and it has worked, do let us know. For those who are not aware, the Camera Connector is a hardware add-on available exclusively for the iPad that lets users transfer images from their digital camera or SD card to the iPad’s built-in picture library. The accessory, which plugs right into the iPad’s dock connector, is available for $29 right off from Apple’s Online Store.

JailbreakMe 3.0, which was officially released less than a week ago, was reported to have been used 1 million times within 1 day after being released, before reaching as many as 2 million jailbreaks over the weekend. These estimates aren’t even counting the jailbreaks that were applied using an unofficial pre-release version which leaked several days earlier.

This jailbreaking method has stood out from all others since it’s the easiest way to apply a jailbreak on any iOS device and is the first untethered jailbreak for the iPad 2, a device that many iPhone developers had been trying to hack into for months before JailbreakMe 3.0 came out. Jailbreaking a device using JailbreakMe 3.0 is so easy that a 5-year-old could do it: all a user needs to do is to point Mobile Safari to JailbreakMe.com and follow the on-screen instructions which include downloading a crafted PDF file that will patch the system and load Cydia onto it. There’s no computer required. You can learn in more detail how to apply this jailbreak from our write-up.

The Safari vulnerability that allows this to happen is reportedly already being fixed by Apple, with the next point release of iOS 4.x, known as iOS 4.3.4. Users are warned to stay away from this release if they have or are planning to jailbreak their devices using JailbreakMe. Instead, users should perform the jailbreak, if they haven’t already, and install PDF Patcher 2 from Cydia in order to fix this nasty vulnerability while still preserving all the benefits of owning a jailbroken device.

If you haven’t already, please install this “essential upgrade” from Cydia.

UPDATE 1: We have got the confirmation from our readers on Facebook that both Apple’s Camera Connector Kit accessory and BiteSMS are working fine after this update.

iH8sn0w has just released sn0wbreeze 2.8b2 to with the support for iPhone 3GS old bootrom devices. Unlike, sn0wbrezee 2.8b1 it provides a untethered jailbreak of iPhone 3GS old bootrom devices running on iOS 5 beta 1 developer version.

iPhone 3GS old bootrom devices are jailbroken for life so it is easy to get untethered jailbreak using the previous jailbreak tool. It implements limera1n exploit with untethered booting option. You no longer need to connect your device to PC every time you boot it.

Download Sn0wbreeze 2.8b2

Sn0wbreeze 2.8b2 works in the similar fashion like previous version, excepts untethered iOS 5 jailbreak option added for iPhone 3GS old bootrom. It will provide tethered jailbreak for rest of the device.

There is no new ultrasn0w unlock is available as of now so you should not update to iOS 5 beta 1 unless if you’re not on official carrier.

Sn0wbreeze 2.8b2 is

Intended only for developers

Hacktivation is disabled

This is a tethered jailbreak via iBooty (except old bootrom 3GS users)

There is already a hack available which can hacktivate iOS 5 devices without developer license. Follow the guide posted here.

when your device comes from Apple, it comes with a firmware pre-installed. If Apple is no longer signing that firmware, you wouldn’t be able to save the SHSH blobs in the past. With ih8sn0ws new tool, you can dump the SHSH blob directly from your currently installed firmware. The way this works is that Apple has signed image files that show up during the boot sequence with the SHSH blob. iFaith allows you to dump your SHSH key directly from those files.

After you have dumped the files, you then patch the firmware file you are trying to downgrade to with your SHSH key, this firmware file is considered a signed firmware file. Once you have created it, you simply restore it in Pwned-DFU mode just like you would if you were restoring any other custom firmware. iFaith is compatible with mostly all iDevices except for the iPad2 and a few others.

Download iFaith-v1.0

These are instructions on how to dump the SHSH of your current firmware even if Apple is not signing.
For instance, you can dump the SHSH of the current firmware on your device, so long as the device is susceptible to the Limera1n jailbreak (Everything but the iPad 2) Apple does not have to be signing the SHSH in order for you to dump the blob.
*Note the iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G will not work since they will always be jailbreakable. The iPad 2 will not work because it is not susceptible to Limera1n. A jailbreak is not needed for this.

Step One : Extract the downloaded rar file, and double click the iFaith.exe file.

Step Two : A disclaimer will appear. Read the notice and click ok to proceed.

Step Three : Click the Dump SHSH Blobs button

Step Four : Read the information and click Proceed when you are ready.

Finally, click the Let’s Go! button to start the dumping process

Step Five : If you are dumping an Apple TV 2, indicate it when iFaith asks you

Step Six: Follow the DFU Instructions to place your device in DFU Mode. You can find more on entering DFU mode here.

Press Power and home for 10 Seconds

Release the power button, but keep holding the Home

Once Successful, iFaith will dump the SHSH of your current firmware. It will go through each step which could take a few minutes.

Step Seven : When completed, iFaith will ask you where to locally save the SHSH.

Indicate where you want to save the SHSH file.

Step Eight : iFaith will notify you that the process was successful
Regards,Neo

Collect from GSMHOSTING
